Data Analytics and Hydro Asset Management Platform Development

Data Analytics and Hydro Asset Management Platform Development

Worked on in work package 11, lead by Easy Hydro

Challenge
WP11 faces the difficulty that many hydro operators have to effective collect, manage and utilize the data from their assets. This limits their ability to maximize asset performance. They are further limited by the robustness of data on reliability and faults, and the lack of standardization of data collected from different plants since hydro have made little progress in integrating data in their operation and maintenance standards in contrast of other renewable energy sources power plants. Advanced analytics and AI techniques through an ensemble of data analytics algorithms will play an important role on the digital transformation of hydropower towards a data-driven operation and maintenance.

Solution in prospect:
WP11 brings an interactive solution for data analytics and hydropower management where datasets could be collected and ingested, processed and used by AI and data analytics models to enhance hydropower plants O&M. The route that WP11 will follow to achieve its main targets comprises:

i) Datasets Collection and Integration in the platform;
ii) Data Analytics Algorithms Baseline Definition;
iii) Hydroelectric Assets Management Optimization;
iv) Preliminary Testing, Parameterization and Pre-pilot Verification.

WP11 will process the results from different WPs to provide an integrated and intelligent asset management solution to help hydro operators improve predictability, flexibility and sustainability, and to reduce failures and O&M costs.
