On 5 and 6 March 2024, the experts from the iAMP-Hydro team gathered for the first time at the project's demonstration sites in Greece.
The iAMP-Hydro team in Veroia
The meeting took place in the region around Veroia to discuss and assess the possibilities to install the sensors, which are used in iAMP-Hydro to monitor the equipment conditions as well as the ecologic impacts. The discussions took place on site of the two hydropower plants where the sensors will be installed, Asomata Hydro Power Plant with dam of PPC (108 MW) and Μakrochori Ι SHPP of PPCR (10.8 ΜW), as well as at Agia Varvara reservoir.

Asomata HPP belongs to the Aliakmonas river complex, in Western Macedonia, Northern Greece. It is using a dam-toe reservoir which besides supplying water for hydropower generation, is also used for supplying water to the previous pumped storage HPP Sfikia, and for irrigation purposes in the big valley of Western Macedonia. The runoff/outflow of Asomata HPP feeds the downstream dam of Agia Varvara, which serves as daily regulating dam and forebay reservoir for the main irrigation canal A0.
